The duo met at Burnley Blues Festival in the Spring of 2000, when Emily commissioned Steve to build her a resophonic guitar. They discovered that they shared musical influences and ideas uncommon amongst their contemporaries and by early 2003 had begun writing and performing together. Some of the highlights of the year were main stage appearances at Sidmouth International Festival, Colne's Great British R&B Festival and Bushy's Big Wheel Blues Festival on the Isle of Man.
